Are you aware that goal-setting can change the scenery of your life?
What I mean is if you take a look at your life, i.e. relationships, finances, career path, health & fitness etc, are you happy with how it currently looks?
If you are that’s fantastic!
If not, do you want to change the scenery so that it looks like you imagined it to be?
Imagine the things in our lives to be like the holiday destination at the end of the train trip. The main thing that happens on the train journey is that the scenery at the beginning of the trip – everyday life, stress, traffic, exhaustion etc, differs from the final destination- sun, beaches, warm weather, relaxation, sleeping late etc. The scenery changes!
Also, a train doesn’t just start out towards its destination and automatically end up there, it usually goes through various stations along its journey where it might change engines, stock up on things and get rid of excessive garbage.
So how does this train journey relate to us?
For us to change the scenery in our lives we have to:
- Imagine a different life – it all begins in the mind.
- We have to break down the final destination into stations along the way so that we can get there step by step.
- We have to believe that; we are good enough to get there, we can get there, and, if we’re not sure how to get there we have to believe that we can learn a way.
- But most importantly we have to decide how we want the scenery to look.
Just like a train trip, this personal journey can be fun-filled, adventurous and full of surprises.
These workshops are facilitated to independent groups on-site i.e schools, colleges, businesses etc. Or to individual groups at our premises.
Our next adventurous, scenery changing workshop will be held in Cape Town during the April School Holidays. Details can be viewed here. Upcoming workshops in JHB to follow.

On Saturday myself and 17 members of staff attended Gary’s Goal Setting workshop. To be to perfectly honest, I initially thought that I would attend more as an observer but found myself hooked by what Gary was saying from the outset. His natural charisma and ease as a facilitator is a gift and I could see how well all of my staff responded to him – from cleaners through to managers…myself included. Nobody felt excluded and all were captivated by Gary’s workshop.
The course has had quite an impact already with staff encouraged and enthusiastic about pursuing their goals and I have seen that this renewed self-belief has had a knock-on effect on their attitude at work too. I cannot recommend this course enough. It is quite literally a course that everyone should attend to re-evaluate their lives, to renew their self-belief and to enable them to have a focus in life. I cannot enthuse enough about how great the day was. Whilst the course was aimed at individual goals, we have also discussed as a team how we can use this technique to fulfill joint goals too.
