The act of playing starts to become “uncool,” in our mid-teens as that is when how we “present,” ourselves starts to become important. Thereafter we start entering the world of productivity and results and play moves further from our reality. Yet it is crucial to our continued to our well-being and creative expression. All It is, is to do something that invokes fun, laughter, ease, presence...

Beer in two towns in Belgium.

📸 La Panne is a seaside resort on the edge of the North Sea.Wind, wide beaches, cyclists, promenades, Ferris wheels, and where the old meets the new.
Nothing like taking a dip in the North Sea to get the blood flowing.

📸Ypres is a city that was strategic landmark during WW1 and subsequently flattened by artillery fire. However, funds were raised to rebuild many of the important buildings – exactly as they were before the war.
Cathedrals, markets, and amazing #lefortbeer are what I remember from our brief visit @the_restyler @marieodilepryen @_createfulness_

The acceptance of creativity.
The act of creativity – when dependant on external evaluation can:
Initially be judged as bad, foolish, erroneous,
then possibly be seen as obvious or self-evident,
then be accepted or seen as beautiful.
For it to be evident and relevant it just must be accepted by some individual or group at some point in time.

This picture was taken in the old eastern Berlin where graffiti and wall art adorn many a wall.
Some like it, some don't and some are indifferent to it.
For me, I love the quirkiness of this creation - and I accept it as art.

📸 Memorial plaques outside of apartments in remembrance of the Jewish families forced to the camps.
📸 The wall art in eastern Berlin – mesmerising in its grittiness.
📸 The grey, ominous, maze of concrete blocks that make up the Holocaust memorial.
📸 Checkpoint Charlie – crazy and busy.
📸 The hecticness of feet around the Brandenburg Gates.
📸 Looking up at the Berliner Fernsehturm – the beacon of Berlin.

And into Hamburg…

Moving north into Germany the weather closed with big imposing clouds, grey skies, and heavy rains. Not many people about.

Walking around with @the_restyler, @helenemarie.ceillier, most of the time was spent in the #hafencity along the water’s edge enjoying

the architecture,

the symmetry of lines,

open spaces,

while always keeping an eye on the foreboding sky.

Significance.
At times it might not feel like it but we are significant.
Our thoughts, actions, decisions, and emotions effect us, those around us, and on our surroundings. That in itself is significant.

What caught my eye with this picture is the "small," woman, alone on the bridge against the backdrop of the forest and river. However, none are insignificant.

3 days traveling in Normandy - the home of not only the most famous French 🇫🇷cheese🧀, but so much more, has led to an upcoming travel story with @the_restyler and @marieodilepryen @_createfulness_

📸 1st stop the village of Étretat with its majestic cliffs as well as the birthplace of Arsene Lupin.

📸 The 15th century spinning village of Honfleur.

📸 Experiencing the most famous French cheese.

📸 The regions architecture including the comforts of a 17th century chateau.

📸 The quaint, artistic village of Saint-Céneri-le-Gérei - voted one of the most beautiful villages in France.

What do creativity and innovation have in common?
⚡Creativity is the act of conceiving something new, whether a variation of a current existence or something completely new.
⚡Innovation is the act of putting something into practice.
What they have in common is that the outcome of either is never guaranteed.
So why create and innovate?
Because it implements change, solve problems, and when intrinsically motivated can lead to a passionate and a purpose(ful - life).

This photo was taken in Aubeterre - Sur- Dronne in France.
These two musicians, jammed, in tune with each other - trying new cords. Some watched, listened and felt entertained, while others went about their day. And yet they still played and created.

Being bored, doing nothing, being present or bein

Being bored, doing nothing, being present or being alone shouldn't be feared as it's actually a gift which has multiple benefits.

One of the reasons we feel the need to constantly be on our phones and allow distractions to grab our attention is linked to Thaasophobia - the fear of boredom.

And there are numerous reasons for this.
* We feel that by doing nothing we're being lazy.
* We feel that by doing nothing we're not producing results.
* We fear facing ourselves.

However - it's the alone (quiet) times where we're able to recharge, as well as allow the time for our minds to open up to those self realisations, inspirations, and creative ideas.
It's just another form of being active.

This photograph was taken taken in Quinta da Regaleira - Sintra Portugal. A Unesco World Heritage Site. It's a magical castle with spectacularly manicured gardens. Such a cool place to be bored.

What is...and why play?
The act of play is important as it contributes to our well-being and it promotes the flow of creative ideas and inspiration.

Remember when you were younger, you did things that left you laughing, feeling invigorated, relaxed, present, while time seemed to stand still. If you do, it's probably linked to a memory of play - doing something with no objective, just being and enjoying.

What does it look like?
For me this photograph taken of two young children having fun on the beach describes play. It was taken on Sunset beach on the west coast of Cape Town.

I'm not 100% sure of the answer, however I do believe that the younger the better. Jayne Acker, a qualified coach and an ex teacher, along with her husband Chris, have created an online multi media platform - leadership skills program, for schools and teenagers from 13 upwards.

We are continuously surrounded by external noise and chaos. For our wellbeing we should find those places that encourages inner peace, a time to disconnect from the outside. It could be, time in nature, listening to music, doing something creative, meditation, or playing - anything that enables us to reconnect with ourselves.

It's Ok to give ourselves permission.
At times we are afraid to try something as we feel we're not going to be good or perfect at it. However that is just an internal dialogue that is stopping us from experiencing something different.
All we have to do is give ourselves permission knowing that it'll be adding to our arsenal of experiences and contributing to our expanded selves.

If you didn't have to do something perfectly, what would you try?

This portrait was taken in Paris. This artist, relaxing on the banks of the Seine, enjoying the sun, and painting. No matter his level of artistry, it all began with him giving himself permission to trying something of interest.
